Christenings

Christening and Baptism is a visible sign of God’s love for us.

In baptism, we thank God for his gift of life and publicly acknowledge his love. It marks a new start: a decision to follow Jesus Christ within the family of the Church.

At Christ Church, we welcome babies, children and adults to take this important step in their journey of Christian faith. In baptising a baby, often known as a christening, you promise to raise your child to know God loves them and to help them to follow Jesus as a member of the Church.

We can also offer a service of thanksgiving for the birth and life of a baby or child. A thanksgiving takes place during our regular Sunday morning service, as an opportunity to give thanks for the life of your child and to pray publicly for your child and family.

If you would like to find out more about a service of baptism or thanksgiving at Christ Church, please contact the vicar, Revd Margaret Cave.
